Philadelphia’s Starkweather have put up a pre-production version of a new track titled “Cold White Light” for a limited time. The 17-minute long track will appear on an upcoming release paired with the nearly 30-minute behemoth, “Divided by Zero”, which the band teases briefly earlier this year. This new track features contributions from Bill Molch and Kevin Hufnagel (Dysrhythmia, Gorguts, etc) as well. The track will be available for streaming for this weekend only, according to the band. Check it out here.
Agalloch recently announced that they have officially disbanded after 20 years. The band’s official statement is as follows:
“Following 20 years, 5 full length albums, many tours around the world, and numerous other recordings, John Haughm and the rest of the band (Don Anderson, Jason Walton, and Aesop Dekker) have parted ways. What the future holds for the separate parties remains undetermined. We collectively thank all of our fans across the world. There are also way too many other people to thank who made this band possible. You know who you are.”
The band’s final full-length release was 2014’s The Serpent & the Sphere. Stream it after the break.
Polish grinders Nuclear Holocaust have unleashed a new track from their impending album, Overkill Commando, which is due out on June 27 (Europe) and September 9 (U.S.) via Selfmadegod. Titled “Abominations of Annihilation”, the track kicks out as much skull-bashing, hell-raising raw grindcore as one can handle. Check out the jam after the break.

French psychedelic doom trio Mars Red Sky have premiered their upcoming full-length, Apex III (Praise for the Burning Soul), over at Decibel. The album will officially be released on May 20 via Listenable Records and can be purchased here. Crunchy riffs, kaleidoscopic melodies, entrancing vocals, all of these can be found on this attention-grabbing full-length. Scour – the new black metal “supergroup” uniting Phil Anselmo and former and current members of Pig Destroyer, Animosity and Cattle Decapitation – have premiered a new track from their debut self-titled release at Decibel. Titled “Dispatched”, the new track unleashes a furious two-minute assault of death-dealing tremolo-picked madness. Anselmo commented on the track:
“Doing the Scour project was a blast. The track, ‘Dispatched’ was the first one I attacked, as it was the first one sent to me. Lyrically, I leave it to the listener to evaluate, as usual. The way I saw it, the songs were short, and extremely straight-forward, so I didn’t want to clutter ‘em up with too much. Therefore, I had to pick particular lyrics that seemed provocatively absurd enough, and to perform them as raw as deemed fit. Hope all true extreme music lovers enjoy the stuff as much as I did performing it. A huge cheers to all the awesome collaborators on this project… Much love to all.”

Scour will be released on July 15 via Housecore Records.
Head Wound City (The Locust, The Blood Brothers, Yeah Yeah Yeahs) have premiered their highly-anticipated new album, A New Wave of Violence, at Pitchfork. The album is officially out today and can be purchased here. The band’s erratic brand of post-hardcore, first witnessed on their 2005 debut EP, is pushed to its limits on this maddening debut release. Check out the record in full now.
